Launch your paddlesport coaching career on the BCAB Core Coach Training course

The British Canoeing Awarding Body Core Coach Training is a 2-day foundational program suitable for all paddlers regardless of their discipline or previous coaching experience. The flexible format allows you to choose a virtual classroom, in-person classroom, practical water-based learning, or a blend of each.  

This is a springboard for aspiring paddlesport coaches or a deep-dive for established coaches looking to refine their skills. You will engage with a range of effective coaching strategies, learning how to plan and deliver inspiring sessions in your own unique style. We’ll help you develop a personal development plan, enabling you to apply your learning effectively in real-world scenarios.

The course is suitable for all ages but when you come to do your discipline specific coaching assessment, you’ll need to be 16.

If you’re at the beginning of your paddlesports coaching career or are curious about what it takes to be a coach, this is a gateway towards that goal.

If you’re already a passionate coach, this course will continue your professional development and offer some new and refreshing insights from our highly experienced coaches. 

WHAT COMES NEXT? +

You can move on to Discipline Specific Training once you feel prepared and have met the necessary prerequisites.

The next step on this progression pathway is the Advanced Sea Kayak Coach training and assessment. 

HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR THIS COURSE? +

WHERE? +

For practical sessions, you’ll meet at our base near Solva to get kitted up (exact location will be shared in your confirmation of booking) and we’ll head to a nearby harbour which we’ve chosen to best suit the conditions on the day.

  • The use of one of our fleet of high quality P and H custom sea kayaks
  • Touring paddling jacket

WHAT TO BRING +

In your confirmation of booking, you’ll receive a full list of basic items to bring on the day e.g. bathers to wear under the wetsuit, a water bottle, a towel etc.
